The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
Students will close read "The Lottery" to investigate the craft of word choice and mood in literature using text dependent questions.
Isn't winning the lottery a great thing? Think of all the things you could get and do? But there is a dark side to something so innocuous.

Stories and Interviews
Students will study examples of interviews and then conduct their own. Hopefully, students will record them at storycorps.org to share with the word. The easiest way, would be to record it on the app!
